[RELEASE]: RC1 is available

Hi,

I would like to inform that AOO 4.1.1 RC1 is available for testing. The
RC is based on revision 1614049 of branch AOO410. The builds can be
found as always under [1].

An overview of fixed issues can be found under [2].

With this release we will have 3 new languages Catalan (ca), Catalan
(Valencia RACV, ca-XR) and Catalan (Valencia AVL, ca-XV). AOO 4.1.1 is
now available in 41 languages where the UI is 100% translated. Many
thanks to all volunteers

Please help us to improve the quality and test the RC in detail. Any
kind of feedback is welcome and highly appreciated.

Kind regards

Juergen

This is correct. It's the same convention I've adopted in recent
updates. The only drawback is that a possible "patch update" (we don't
release them at the moment, even though attempts have been documented on
this list) would be confused due to the rename, so I rename dictionary
only when they are new or updated.

I have already done this and adapt the names to dict-<lang>.oxt for the
future. Means we never have to change the name that we include in the
office. I hope I remember it correct, that is at least the way how I
have fixed it.

I can volunteer for fixing this later today, unless someone else is
already working on it or is available to help (it's not complex at all,
I can give all steps).

This shows that we cannot simply rely on requests sent to the l10n list,
since I had already applied all updates reported there. We probably need
to run a global (possibly automated; again, if someone wants to help
just ask) check before tagging a Release Candidate.

I can volunteer for fixing this later today, unless someone else is

This shows that we cannot simply rely on requests sent to the l10n list,
since I had already applied all updates reported there. We probably need
to run a global (possibly automated; again, if someone wants to help
just ask) check before tagging a Release Candidate.

Hi Andrea, Juergen, all

Just installed the Portuguese RC2. I can confirm that the dictionary
included is indeed the latest uploaded by the Extension's author.

Thank you!

Andrea is correct, we prefer a hosted version in the extensions repo for
the reasons Andrea pointed out. I will wait until Monday to see if we
can get an uploaded version on the extensions side. Otherwise I will
start the build on Monday with what we have.

I see some confusion at
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/european-portuguese-dictionaries

Maintainers of bundled extensions are expected to always upload their
releases to the Extensions site.

The site offers you to host the extension either locally or on another
server, but dictionaries are a build dependency, so we won't include
external download URLs (simple reason: if uminho.pt turns off their
server, the OpenOffice binary releases can't be built).

Here I see that the maintainers uploaded a version numbered 14.7.8.2
that is externally hosted (on uminho.pt). To fix this, they must upload
a version with a higher number that is internally hosted (on
extensions.openoffice.org). Otherwise, it will happen that OpenOffice
reports an available update upon install. The latest version appearing
at http://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-extensions/files/1196/ is the one
that will be included.

   Andrea.

Hi again

I just noticed that the latest version available from the people creating
the extension is in fact 14.7.4.2 from July 8th
http://natura.di.uminho.pt/download/sources/Dictionaries/openoffice/Pos-AO/

Would it still be possible to include that version in RC2 if they update it
at the Extensions site?

Re: [RELEASE]: RC2 due to dictionary updates

Posted by Pedro Lino <pe...@gmail.com>.
Hi Juergen, all

I just uninstalled my Portuguese dictionary (version 14.4.1.1) just to test
the Extension updates (and Dictionaries in particular since that is the
reason for the new RC2).

Then I installed a previous version (13.1.1.2). When I pressed "Check for
Updates" I got a message that 14.4.1.1 was available. However the latest
official version on the Extensions site is 14.7.4.1 (from July 4th)
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/european-portuguese-dictionaries

Why is this version not reported by the extensions update check?
Will version 14.7.4.1 be included in the forthcoming RC2?

Regards,
Pedro

It is indeed quite annoying. I can reproduce it with 4.1.1-RC3 Italian.
Maybe not a blocker (especially since I can reproduce it with 4.1.0 too,
and since there seems to be a workaround in my case), but still an issue
deserving attention.

Hi,

maybe some of you wondered why I haven't started the vote on RC1 but the
reason is quite simple. Just when the upload was nearly finished I got
notification of available updates (thanks to Regina and Ariel) of
dictionaries. We know this is very annoying when you install a new
version and get update notification directly.

That means we will definitely prepare a RC2 and if you have identified
further critical and potential showstopper please report them asap.

I plan to start the build later this week and will see if there is
coming more. Please continue testing of RC1 and give us feedback.

Thanks

OK, while I haven't done what anyone would call extensive accessibility testing I can at least confirm that accessibility seems to be OK in this RC build using the latest master branch of NVDA. This is great news!!!

Thank you for alerting us to this release. I will do some testing to ensure that we still have screen reader accessibility. I have access to the latest versions of JAWS and Window-eyes and I have NVDA on my home system. I would be happy to be of service to perform any accessibility testing which may prove helpful.

RE: [RELEASE]: RC1 is available

Posted by David Goldfield <dg...@asb.org>.
Thank you for alerting us to this release. I will do some testing to ensure that we still have screen reader accessibility. I have access to the latest versions of JAWS and Window-eyes and I have NVDA on my home system. I would be happy to be of service to perform any accessibility testing which may prove helpful.

Subject: [RELEASE]: RC1 is available

Juergen

Re: [RELEASE]: RC2 due to dictionary updates

Posted by Jürgen Schmidt <jo...@gmail.com>.
Hi,

maybe some of you wondered why I haven't started the vote on RC1 but the
reason is quite simple.

Thanks

Juergen
