Description: Currently FileStream fails to properly handle non-existing files, and possibly other errors. Errors should be caught and reported as early as possible. We should write unit tests for these cases. (e.g. calling `tellg` on a "bad" `fstream` returns `pos_type(-1)` which poisons further calculations).
