Save as to docx, xlslx file types

Hello to the QA,

I'm sorry to interpt here, but I've just noticed there is no support of
saving as on these MS files, why? On the other hand openoffice4.0, xp, can
open them!
Do we know this?

Sorry again,
/Christos

@David: You should rar an example file, and the developers will have more
about this issue in details.

Doesn't open correctly always. If you have a docx with a table that crosses a page break then the following pages aren't always read.

Reason: the export filters to the old DOC, XLS, PPT formats are still better. This will probably change in future, but at the moment we have read-only support for those types.

I don't know, we don't have set plans yet. The best way to stay informed
is to put yourself in CC of the relevant issue:
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=88355
(you will need to create a Bugzilla account).

Regards,
   Andrea.

What a pity for this, but you mentioned about "future", will this be
implemented on next release in December/Jan after this Sep 6th release?

Sure! OpenOffice currently reads DOCX, XLSX, PPTX but does not save in
those formats. There is some code for it in the sources, but it is
disabled. Reason: the export filters to the old DOC, XLS, PPT formats
are still better. This will probably change in future, but at the moment
we have read-only support for those types.
