I agree with all your points, let me just add that I found another
related OpenSource technology, which looks like it could be integrated
into cocoon. It's an application framework called Xoplon, find it under
http://xoplon.sourceforge.net

They even use the same terminology as cocoon (producers, processors,
taglibs etc.) and it seems if we take their publishing component out and
replace it with cocoon, we would make a great leap forward in
application development.

XSP is a great integration technology. The Sitemap is like httpd.conf -
a proprietary config file written in XML-style syntax :)
