non-threadsafe code in URI translation

------- Additional Comments From trawick@apache.org 2003-03-12 10:14 -------
There are no known issues with large number of threads per process. (I
recently spoke with some users on AIX with 3900 threads in a single
child process. I've heard of more.)

Also, mod_userdir has limited room for thread-safety problems (not saying
it is impossible, just unlikely).

What sort of filesystem contains the user directory with the accessibility
problems? NFS perhaps?

Can you map this same user directory into URL space via a mechanism other than
mod_userdir (e.g., Alias) and see if you have the same problem?

Thanks!
