Installation documentation?

General question: I couldn't find any Tomcat documentation on the website.
Is there any out there?

Specific question: When I try to start Tomcat with the "startup.sh" script,
I get this error:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
org/apache/tomcat/startup/Tomcat

I'm running Redhat 6.1 on an x86, using the Blackdown/Sun JDK version 1.2.2.

 You are probably missing the environment variable TOMACT_HOME, set it 
and start tomcat again.
