oracle as DB
Hi,
I try to set-up james with oracle as backend-DB and I am
failing to create the correct table for james in particular
recipients, message_body and last_updated. I used clob for
recipients, blob for message and date for last_updated.
but I always receive a java.lang.NumberFormatException, so I
suppose at least last_updated isn't of the correct type.
Another question I have is the nls_lang stuff. We set-up our
database in UTF-8 (cause we need beside english and german also
chinese and russian in the varchar's), for that the length my
vary, depending on the encoding of the string, so for that is
the length setting of the varchar's still correct?
Could someone help me with this stuff. I attached my
james-message-oracle.sql and my maildatabase-oracle.
regards, tom

Hi all, I can't seem to get over this hump, I set everything up run the
<james_home>\bin\run
script, everything looks great, then I use Token telnet to connect to
localhost:4555 and enter root, <password> as my login and get loging failed,
I also tried what the directions say root [enter][enter] and failed at that,
I am on NT 4.0 and have had this problem with james 1.2 and 1.2.1, please
help!
thanks

If I remember right I saw this message when using Oracke 8.1.7 JDBC
drivers
try 8.1.6 instead.

I used long raw for the message_body, some people seemed to have
problems with blobs and JDBC...
btw. I had to upgrade to CVS Town version, for it to work with Oracle,
and then to edit James files to work with CVS Town -
if you get it to work without a new Town and edits please tell me,
otherwise I can show you the necessary changes.
Good Luck,
Mario
