Custom resource properties
What is the best way to generate custom resource properties?
Is there a way to define custom resource properties in the service WSDL file
like it's done with Methods?

Re: Custom resource properties
Posted by José Antonio Sánchez <ge...@gmail.com>.
I think the callback is called before the the value is read. I think it
works like this when you invoke a GetResourceProperty operation:
1. Once the requested property has been located, if it has a callback
registered, that callback is called (specifically, that callback's refresh()
operation is called). That operation is supposed to call the backend for the
real value of the property, as a property with a callback normally
represents a property that resides outside of the web service.
2. The refresh() operation must return the value of the property, reading it
from the backend (or from some other source). Once returned, the property
document is updated and the new value returned to the client.
I don't know anything about the internals of Apache WSRF implementation and
I might be wrong. If that is the case, please, someone correct me.

Another question
A resource property provides a similar behavior to a java bean Setter and
Getter.
If thats correct, how can I indicate a schema (XSD) type element that would
specify the data type that is returned from or set into the resource
property?
e.g,
public void setSomething(SomeDataType input){
}
Public SomeDataType getSomething(){
}

Re: Custom resource properties

Hi,
It's not really clear what you mean by "custom" resource properties.
Aren't they all "custom"?
I think that, according to the specs, properties may or may not exist
for a particular resource at a given point in time. This is probably why
they're not in the WSDL file (and why there is no extension for them).
One way to find out which properties are valid is to implement
QueryResourceProperties and to use it from the client (with "*").
I also think one of the aims of WSRF is not to depend on an
object-oriented approach. WSDL doesn't define 'methods' but 'operations'
(within port types or the soon-to-come "interfaces" in WSDL 2.0).
Listing the object fields might be too close to a Java class model
(including reflection), although I can see the use for knowing which
properties a resource has got (and in this case, QueryResourceProperties
seems to be fine).
Regards,
Bruno.
