URL to Manual Page Does not work / Owner Uid

Hi,

I tried the most recent snapshot of Apache, with mod_proxy and mod_ssl enabled.
I have a problem: referencing the manual page as http://servername/manual/
doesnot work. Although http://servername/manual/index.html works fine and
returns the "Content-Location: index.html.en" of the manual directory,
http://servername/manual/ returns the analog file from the htdocs directory! I
tried to fiddle with the Alias /manual configuration line but it didn't help.
I really at a loss to see what is the problem.

In an unrelated matter, the installation process dosn't set the root as owner
of the installed software. As a rule, I always run "make" under my own uid, and
only swith to root before "make install", and I think this is the best
behaviour, but for some reason the install scripts do not change the uid!

Best,

Zvi
