image align

How do you align images..for example at start, end, center of the page etc.

This is what my image block looks like

<fo:external-graphic src="http://localhost:8080/some.gif" content-height="3cm" content-width="8cm" />

I tried "align=left" but that dosen't work and I tried other things but no luck
Any help would be appreciated
