[jira] [Commented] (ZOOKEEPER-1997) Why is there a standalone mode

Marshall McMullen commented on ZOOKEEPER-1997:
----------------------------------------------

With reconfig you still cannot grow from standalone to quorum mode. There are many many use cases for the standalone mode -- most notable for embedded unit tests or for non-HA clusters which are use for simulations or test environments where we don't need quorum mode.

> It seems there is a special standalone mode.
> With the coming of reconfig, this doesn't make any sense.
> A single server can also be configured later to add more servers.
