I don't know of any users.
If the old wrappers don't work, I'm +1 for removing them, especially if
there were some way to leave a "crumb" in their place which would tell
anyone trying to use them what to do instead that would work (e.g. a
redirect to the OpenNLP project's wrappers).

I don't think there are users who are actually using it or do you know one ?
The wrappers are not part of the framework since they are in the example project and existing users can still download
UIMA 2.2.2 and build the annotators, the result will also work with UIMA 2.3.0. So we don't break anything like it would
happen when we change the UIMA API in an incompatible way.
Most users trying out the wrapper these day fail for one or another reason and usually end up with building
the official wrapper from the OpenNLP project.

I wonder if this would break some existing uses - would it be a better idea to document that the wrapper works with (specific) older versions of OpenNLP, and provide a pointer to where to get the newer version(s)?

I'd like to get closure on this issue. Either we fix the wrappers, or we remove them. There's no point in shipping broken functionality. If we fix the wrappers, we duplicate work that has been done over on OpenNLP, so I say we remove them. We can leave a readme stub that points to OpenNLP. Any objections?
