Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: DIRRMS-9
    Summary: Decouple action handlers
       Type: Task

     Status: Open
   Priority: Minor

    Project: Directory RMS
 Components:
             GUI

   Assignee: Alex Karasulu
   Reporter: Alex Karasulu

    Created: Mon, 12 Apr 2004 8:52 AM
    Updated: Mon, 12 Apr 2004 9:25 AM

Description:
See if we can find a way to decouple action handlers and still have them effect the UI - most handlers are inner classes with access to all sorts of stuff inside GUI components. If we can step away from that and build a framework around it then actions can be specified more easily using user provided classes or even scripts to glue the UI together.

Action handlers can be loaded dynamically using hints from the containment meta model. This would make the containment tree widget all that much more generic.
