Cocoon 1 performance / Cocoon 2

Hi,

We are building a dynamic web catalogue (incl. personalisation, discounts
and shopping carts) in Cocoon 1 for a large hardware vendor (13 languages in
52 countries). Cocoon is running on iPlanet and with a few users, it is
using very much memory and processor capacity (on an Enterprise 450), while
performance decreases rapidly.

How can I determine what causes the decrease in performance. How should I
start profiling / tuning?

Is it worth looking at this or should I better be looking at Cocoon 2?

Any ideas?
