There are [good arguments|http://stackoverflow.com/questions/41498021/is-it-worth-to-use-slf4j-with-log4j2/41500347#41500347] to get rid of SLF4J API for logging.

Moreover, we do depend on some Log4J2 implementations (memory appenders, dynamic logger level update).
