Comments & problems with Tomcat 4.1 w Jasper

Ok, here's an interesting one. At our company, where we are
experimenting with upgrading to the newer Tomcat, we noticed our
Velocity code was failing due to comments (JSP comments that is). Has
anyone else seen this?

Evan

Terry,

Not that I approve of replying to my own posting, but here goes. It
turns out this was a known problem with the particular distro of Tomcat.
The problem came from the file valtag.tld. The behavior was that it
couldn't interpret comments and this caused the page not to display(you
do use comments don't you?). The fix was a one liner, and after that
every thing was fine.

Evan,

I'm currently using Tomcat 4.1.24 with Velocity (1.4 dev1) and having no
such problems. Previously used 4.18, 3.31, etc. extensively with no
problem.

Regards,

Terry
