[jira] Created: (INFRA-1891) Need a trusted ssl cert for maven repository

Need a trusted ssl cert for maven repository
--------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-1891
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1891
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Task
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
            Reporter: Brian Fox

Since we don't want committers to send their passwords in the clear, we are using https on repository.zones.apache.org, but need a self signed cert to do so. This makes extra effort for everyone to use it. Assuming we get INFRA-1890 sorted out, we would then need an official signed cert for https://repository.apache.org

Any progress on this? I'm getting a bit of pushback about using Nexus until the security aspects can get straightened out and this is one of them.
