Doesn't work with VNC servers

Hello All:

I've tried everything to connect to a system running VNC or RDP - nothing works. Latest attempt is to a Windows 10 system running TightVNC:

You may need to change RealVNC's settings. I believe their VNC server defaults to accepting only proprietary auth mechanisms that are only implemented in their proprietary client.

The cause of "authentication failure" really is exactly that. The only possibility is that the VNC server is rejecting the provided password.

"Security scheme 2" is standard VNC authentication (a password). Double check that the password you specified in your configuration for the VNC connection in Guacamole is correct.

Assuming you are using 0.9.14 or older, please upgrade to 1.0.0. Older releases had an issue which would result in a segfault if the password provided for VNC was incorrect:
