Is Cocoon development 1.8.2 or 1.8.3?

I just installed the development snapshot:
 http://xml.apache.org/from-cvs/xml-cocoon/xml-cocoon_20010130185927.tar.gz
and when looking at the notes in the build.xml file noticed the property
name="version"
has a value="1.8.3-dev". Is what's in development 1.8.3 or 1.8.2? If
development
is 1.8.3, where/what is 1.8.2?

Version x.y.z <==> label x.y.z
label x.y.z-dev <==> Version in development, will be released as x.y.z

I checked the dist/ dir yesterday and the latest release was 1.8.1. I checked
it again just now and it shows 1.8.2 as being the latest. Since I knew 1.8.2
was close to release, that's why I grabbed the dev snapshot. Evidently I got
caught in the Twilight Zone between seeing 1.8.2 in the dist/ dir and 1.8.3 in

the dev/ dir.

Now things make sense until the next time I get caught in 'The Zone'. Thanks
to everyone who helped straighten me out.

Hey BJ, your first line says "... the development
snapshot ..." and that means you have got a code set
from the development branch.
1.8.2 is already being released :-)
1.8.3 is the next target (development)

Thanks for the replies. I'm still confused about why the 1.8.2
version has 1.8.3 for the upcoming 1.8.3 development version,
but I guess it's not important.

NO ... it is a label for the DEVelopment version of
the fortcoming 1.8.3

no, that's the one we're working on now. if you download development
snapshots, you're going to get development packages.
