   ```
   
   ### What did you expect to see?
   
   The build completes without errors.
   
   ### What did you see instead?
   
   There are multiple errors about `java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unsupported class file major version 66`
   
   ### Anything else?

   One possibility is to enforce that a supported JVM versions is used for the compilation. We currently support Java 17 and Java 21 for the master branch.
