JMS message ACKNOWLEDGEMENT question
Hi,
I would like to know how activeMQ behaves, if a consumer from the pool of
consumers gets a CLIENT_ACK message and dies before sending the ACK. Is that
Message is going to be avaiable for some other Consumer for pickup?
Is there any specific property configuration needed for that.
Thanks!

There is an inactivity monitor which is configurable on the wireFormat of
the transport (see maxInactiveTimeout)
http://activemq.org/Configuring+Wire+Formats
together with the timeouts on the socket itself
http://activemq.org/TCP+Transport+Reference
The inactivity monitor class is here
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/activemq/trunk/activemq-core/src/main/java/org/apache/activemq/transport/InactivityMonitor.java

If the consumer, session, connection or socket get cosed/disconnected,
then this happens. If the process hangs for some reason, then the
broker detects that too and forces a client disconnect.

I assume the session needs to be closed on the problem consumer, before
activeMQ makes decision to deilver to another consumer. Is that correct?
Thanks!

It will be redelivered to another consumer. No need for extra configuration.
