In thread "[JENKINS] Lucene-Solr-SmokeRelease-4.x - Build # 69 - Failure" miller suggested that we should phase out the concept of a default core name by 5.x -- removing this is probably easy, but we need to change a lot of little things to do this cleanly.

Off the top of my head...

* smoke checker assumes simple URLs
* post.jar - needs to make URL mandatory
* lots of doc examples need updated
