[Issue 126590] New: Date Format

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126590

          Issue ID: 126590
        Issue Type: DEFECT
           Summary: Date Format
           Product: General
           Version: 4.1.1
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: help
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: brettbyrd@gmail.com

Open Office Automatically changes my dates from MM/DD/YYYY to MM/DD/YY.

I do not like this. If I am trying to add birthdays to a table in Writer, I
cannot put in the correct date. For example when I put in 01/07/1995 it changes
it to 01/07/95. I don't want it to do that. I want the entire four digit year
in there and not just the last two digits. How can I change this.

I like the features Open office has as far as assuming what I want format wise
but when I don't want what ever format it is trying to use there is no way for
me to change it at least not without tricking it.

HELP!

--- Comment #1 from Keith N. McKenna <kn...@apache.org> ---
OpenOffice actually isn't changing any data, just the way it is displayed. The
most common date format in the U.S. was for years mm/dd/yy and that is what is
set as the default. To change it simply right click on the cell and select
number format and choose the number format you desire.
