Incubator PMC/Board report for October 2011 (celix-dev@incubator.apache.org)

Dear Celix Developers,

This email was sent by an automated system on behalf of the Apache Incubator PMC.
It is an initial reminder to give you plenty of time to prepare your quarterly
board report.

The board meeting is scheduled for Wed, 19 October 2011, 10 am Pacific. The report
for your podling will form a part of the Incubator PMC report. The Incubator PMC
requires your report to be submitted one week before the board meeting, to allow
sufficient time for review.

Please submit your report with sufficient time to allow the incubator PMC, and
subsequently board members to review and digest. Again, the very latest you
should submit your report is one week prior to the board meeting.

Thanks,

The Apache Incubator PMC

Submitting your Report
----------------------

Your report should contain the following:

 * Your project name
 * A brief description of your project, which assumes no knowledge of the project
   or necessarily of its field
 * A list of the three most important issues to address in the move towards
   graduation.
 * Any issues that the Incubator PMC or ASF Board might wish/need to be aware of
 * How has the community developed since the last report
 * How has the project developed since the last report.

This should be appended to the Incubator Wiki page at:

  http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/October2011

Note: This manually populated. You may need to wait a little before this page is
      created from a template.

Mentors
-------
Mentors should review reports for their project(s) and sign them off on the
Incubator wiki page. Signing off reports shows that you are following the
project - projects that are not signed may raise alarms for the Incubator PMC.

Hi all,

Hereby a draft of the board report, if anyone is missing something, or would
like to add anything, please raise your voice. I'd like to add te report to
the incubator wiki this evening.

--------------------
Celix

Celix is an implementation of the OSGi Specification in C.

Celix entered incubation on November 2, 2010.

In the code not much has changed during the past few months, mostly due to
vacations. Some (reported) bugs have been fixed, and some interesting
examples have been added. These example where donated by a user, and follow
the OSGi in Action book. This makes them a great addition to Celix.
Furthermore, some work has been done to make testing from CMake easier, and
we are also looking into a method for mocking services to be able to test
only one service without all its dependencies.

On the community site, Luminis and Thales are organizing an event (in Dutch)
to introduce embedded/distributed companies to OSGi. During this event OSGi
will be explained, Celix and PojoSR will be introduced. Also a small
introduction in Apache and the "Apache Way" will be given, with the goal to
invite people to use/join Celix.
Also, in november a talk and demo will be given at the ApacheCon.

Most important issues are:

Improve robustness (APR, error handling etc)
Generate awareness and grow a community!

Signed off by mentor:

Ps: Is it ok to mention companies in the board report?
PPs: Anyone interesting in the event can take a look at
