jk2.socket not created in 4.1.12 connector

Summary: jk2.socket not created in 4.1.12 connector
           Product: Tomcat 4
           Version: 4.1.12
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Connector:Coyote JK 2
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: timir@domestech.com

The jk2.socket is not created correctly under connector 4.1.12 with Tomcat
4.1.12. I have found that the 4.1.10 connector works fine and creates the socket
as expected.
This happens in RH Linux 7.3 native and running under VMWare on W2k with SP3.
Apache version is 2.0.40.

Catalina.out contains the message "SEVERE: Can't create apr" - seems like a
missing class.
