(charset conversion failed) while checking out a binary file using command-line client

Hi !

I just received this error while checking out my repository:
D:\>svn co http://svn-work.hopto.org:8193/repos/vendor/

D:\>svn --version
svn, version 0.25.0 (r6433)
   compiled Jul 10 2003, 22:05:10

The client is running WinXP pre-SP1.  The server is running Apache
2.0.46|7.  Cannot remember exactly.  SVN on the server is 0.25.0 too. 
The server is running on Win2K SP3.

The file is browsable and printable using a browser.  What could this
mean ?

The above-mentionned URL is not public.  It requires basic
