[jira] Created: (MYFACES-303) API: FacesMessage.getSeverity() does not default correctly.

API: FacesMessage.getSeverity() does not default correctly.
-----------------------------------------------------------

         Key: MYFACES-303
         URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MYFACES-303
     Project: MyFaces
        Type: Bug
    Versions: 1.0.9 beta
    Reporter: Adam Winer

The spec requires that FacesMessage.getSeverity() default to INFO.
Furthermore, a null severity passed to the constructor or setSeverity() should result in a NullPointerException.

I made very similar changes locally, but am holding back the commit until I can confirm that this is indeed what the 1.1 spec mandates. I know Adam is on the EG, but I can't find any reference to these requirements.

See the Javadoc for FacesMessage (in the RI, that is). The RI Javadoc is explicitly part of the specification.

Adam,

I'm not seeing where this is required in the 1.1 spec. Are these requirements for 1.2, perhaps ?
