Re: Mail archives - are on marc, but apache preferred
As has already been mentioned a couple of times,
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com has a pretty good archive
of a wide range of Apache (but not all) mailing lists
on it. Fairly nice interface, reasonably up-to-date,
and searchable.
That said, I'd prefer to have Apache host our own
mailing list archives ourselves, that any Apache group
could sign up to use. That way we can control it and
provide the features we need, and having a robust and
searchable mail archive is a definite need! Of
course, this all requires a machine and an Apache
volunteer...
If we can't get our own list archives, could someone
please update our public mail-list pages to point to
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com as well, so at least new
users will have a clue where to look for updated
archives?

How does Apache get machines? I'm assuming they are primarily corporate
loaners/donations. I can ask here but my gut feeling is "fat chance".
What kind of machines currently host the XML Apache sites? Linux boxes?
Jim.
