[m1] How to define my own remote repository in my maven installation ?

Hello,
 
Is it possible to define my own remote repository in the installation directories of Maven 1 ?
If yes, where should I configure it ?
 
I know that it can be configured in a file project.properties of a maven project, but I'd like to define it only once for all my projects.
