[GitHub] [cordova-plugin-device] breautek commented on issue #159: app set id

I feel like this feature should actually be a separate plugin, and not something the `device` plugin should solve.
I understand that the device plugin offers uuid fields that are now legacy/obsolete as they are often blocked/not available anymore by the OS and there are newer privacy-centered APIs that fills in some of those gaps, but the device plugin main purpose is to offer some descriptions of the device's hardware and software, not necessary to identify unique users or devices. The previously available UUIDs was just some extra information that it could obtain without adding any new dependencies.
The App Set ID will require adding a new dependency to the plugin, which is hard to selectively enable or disable based on the requirements of the apps. For this reason, I think this feature is better left implemented as a third-party plugin, in which users can selectively install if they require the App Set ID feature.
This is just my opinion, so I'd leave this open ended for others to chime in their thoughts.
