Add folling line in your catalina.sh

CATALINA_OPTS=-Xms512 -Xmx1024
or
JAVA_OPTS=-Xms512 -Xmx1024

Normally the JVM allocates an initial size of 512 MB (Java 1.5). If you
need more then this amount of memory you can set the minimum size at 512
and the maximum at 1024. This should be enough for most applications
running on tomcat. To set the maximum size of memory is allways a good idea.
