Some architecural ideas. (Part 1)
Hi,
I have discussed at XSLT-UK 2001 with Arved some architectural ideas
to improve FOP expecially in the cases of Keeps, Footnotes and others
difficult tasks.
I think that first of all it will be necessary to try to avoid to load the
entire FO inside the FO tree, otherwise working with big FO files will
became impossible (too memory required to store the FO tree and the Area
tree of the pages ...).
The problem is to read a sufficient quantity of FO, and store into an
internal structure (FO Cluster) to capture the relationship between them and
flag the elements into a way that will help to manage the cluster. When the
cluster is completed it can be layouted obtaining one or more pages.
I attach some slides that, I hope, will better explain my ideas, comments
and suggestions will be very appreciated. I hope that this will be usefull
for a new FOP.
Thanks,
Fabio
PS: I need to split the document into 2 zip because it's more than 100KB,
sorry ...
