Jakarta POI with jre 1.3

Goodmorning,
I am working with Tomcat 4.1 with a jre 1.3.1 installed on my system.
I need to create an .xsl file so I would like to use Apache Jakarta POI but I don’t know if it is possible and what version of POI I have to use because I can not update the jre to the latest version.

Someone can help me?
Thanks all

Have a nice day

Enrica Garnero

To compile POI, you will need jdk 1.4 or later

To run POI, you only need jdk 1.3 or later

We build POI with the "-source 1.3" option so the binaries are
compatible with JDK 1.3. The point is that some of POI projects like HSLF use JDK 1.4+
features (Java2D, regexp, etc.). That is why we use JDK 1.4 to build.
Excel generation doesn't depend on JDK 1.4 and should work fine in JDK
1.3

Anyway, if you encounter any issues with the latest POI 3.0.1, try POI
2.5.1. I'm sure it is 100% compatible with JDK 1.3.

Be careful, the POI3.0-FINAL is builded with jdk 1.4 and doesn't compiled with 1.3
