Some uploads - error converting - file not found

Hello,

Some but not all PDFs and PPTXs fail conversion with this error:

process: convert PDF to images command: /usr/bin/convert -density 150
-define pdf:use-cropbox=true
/opt/om_data/upload/files/a6290a0d-34bf-4f9b-aafc-a8cdb5cc6955/a6290a0d-34bf-4f9b-aafc-a8cdb5cc6955.pdf
+profile '*' -quality 90
/opt/om_data/upload/files/a6290a0d-34bf-4f9b-aafc-a8cdb5cc6955/page-%04d.png
exception: null error: exitValue: 137 optional: false out:

and:

process: doJodConvert command: null exception: null error: Document
converted successfully exitValue: 0 optional: false out: null
137 process: convert PDF to images command: /usr/bin/convert -density 150
-define pdf:use-cropbox=true

+profile '*' -quality 90

exception: null error: exitValue: 137 optional: false out:

I've tried re-saving older documents in Libre Office and WPS, but the
errors persist.

Thanks, Denis.

It is probably the number of pages / slides, then. The pptx file sent to me
has 96 slides of text points.
They duplicated the previous slide for each change instead of using
transitions on one slide. It is 488k.

Thanks again,
Lee

Here’s my two cents worth on this. As you mentioned “some” I would refrain from uploading large pdf files... I am referring to files with a large quantity of pages... which will require more ram. If it is a high quality layered pdf, I would also suggest flattening it with whatever pdf program you use before uploading. Many pdf programs also offer the option of saving a file into individual pages which I then upload into a folder, making it easier to drag and drop individual pages onto a whiteboard... and as a result making it easier to give presentations / classes etc.... especially if you are adding notes and so on to the whiteboard.

Regarding PPT files... I would also be mindful of power point files that contain audio, dynamic text, animations etc. Save them as PDFs before uploading... as all animations etc are going to be lost when uploading anyway.

There are a few additional changes you can make in:
/etc/ImageMagick-6/policy.xml which you would have edited when installing OM.

I remember having a similar issue a few years back when testing on a free tier on AWS before upgrading.

Hope this helps.

Denis

I'm afraid it is not clear what is wrong
I would recommend to run convert command in console and check the output

If PDF is huge (or pages are complex) you might need to fine tune
ImageMagic ....

According to office documents conversion (including TXT) they are converted
to PDF then to PNG
Since 'doJodConvert' has exitValue '0' I would expect you have PDF :)
And the question is about fine tuning ImageMagic ....
