This is not an ant bug, it is a xslt
bug
The checkstyle-frames.xsl contains
<xsl:param name="output.dir" select="'.'"/>
and
<redirect:write file="{$output.dir}/stylesheet.css">

It is these that are setting up and writing to
the converted spaces directories.
