Is wsdl2java from RAD6 derived from Axis1? Any docs for use of _Helper & _Ser classes?

Is the WSDL2Java from RAD6 derived from Axis1?  I'm trying to figure out
how to use the generated _Helper and _Ser classes.  I need to print out
the xml for an object for debugging.  I think I would use the Serializer
object that I get from the _Helper class, but I can't figure out how to
use it, and the Rational docs are useless.
