Re: Commons Net 1.4.x Service Release?
Hi Martin
Sorry for the late reply. It's been a busy year for me, and I am having
trouble allocating sufficient time to [net] at the moment to close off
the remaining issues and schedule a release, hence the delay. There seem
to be a trickle of bug reports, but unfortunately not much manpower
available to fix them. I was hoping to have a release out long before
now, but unfortunately this has not been the case. If I can find another
interested party to assist with a release, then we can potentially get a
1.4.x and 2.0 release out shortly.
Cheers
Rory

RE: Commons Net 1.4.x Service Release?
Posted by "Oberhuber, Martin" <Ma...@windriver.com>.
Hello Jeffrey,
many thanks for offering help!
Are you a Commons Net committer?
For me it looks like there is two tasks for releasing
commons net 1.4.2:
(a) Look through JIRA to see if there are any more
fixes outstanding or worth backporting. I'm not
100% sure but it could be that there is still an
issue with the Telnet Stream leading to occasional
reliabiliaty problems with FTP. For reference, see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=219792#c2
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NET-145
(b) Take the current commons net 1.4.x branch, make
sure that all Legal files are correct, automated
testing runs OK and make a release.
It would be awsome to get a truly reliable FTP client
from Commons Net 1.4.2 -- for us, having the patches
NET-3 and NET-73 was very important already, but
having our own patched version is not as good as
having an officially released version.
Thanks!
