[users@httpd] Apache 2.4.3 : Rotatelog

Is it possible to issue rotatelog from crontab ?

Will there be any performance impact on apache if using 

  piped logs ie 

CustomLog"|/usr/local/apache/bin/rotatelogs /var/log/access_log 86400"common
