Portal services outside portlet

Hello, is it possible access portal service (UserManager) outside portlet context? I need UserManager service in batch process that is executed every day. I use spring's quartz timer to schedule the job, but the portletcontext is not available for the job because it run outside portlet. Any help or suggestion?
