Xerces C++ for FreeBSD??

Dear Sir,
On the xerces-c home page (http://xml.apache.org/xerces-c/index.html) it
says that there is a port available for FreeBSD. I downloaded the source
code and found no references to FreeBSD in the source, aside from a few
cryptic remarks in the versioning comments. I attempted to port the
current source
(http://xml.apache.org/dist/xerces-c/stable/Xerces-C-src_1_2_0.tar.gz)
to FreeBSD, but have run into numerous problems (wchar.h and wctype.h
are not part of the FreeBSD GNU library, etc.).

Has there been a successful port to FreeBSD? If so, where may I find
it??

Any help would be appreciated.
