Entity recognition and resolving

I am having difficulty getting xml entities to work using result type of xslt.  I get everything else working ok, just no value even retrieved for unparsed-entity-uri for the SYSTEM entity references that are in the xml source document.  Any help on the location of an example that shows this would be appreciated.
