[jira] Created: (INFRA-624) svn --revprop svn:log changes not reflected in Jira issues

svn --revprop svn:log changes not reflected in Jira issues
----------------------------------------------------------

         Key: INFRA-624
         URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-624
     Project: Infrastructure
        Type: Task
  Components: JIRA
 Environment: Jira SVN plugin
    Reporter: Martin Sebor

I'm not seeing svn:log changes reflected in Jira issues that reference the SVN commit. In the thread below, Jonathan Nolen, Director of Developer Relations at Atlassian, suggests that an indexing issue might be behind this problem and recommends that Jira be restarted in order to force the reindexing. This is not a high priority issue for me but it would be helpful to get this to work at some point in the near future. Thanks!

Just for reference, there are at least two Jira issues in the Atlassian database that request the ability to do this automatically (see below). I added my vote to both of them in hopes of getting them implemented.

Uh oh, I'm afraid I don't see any Subversion changes in Jira now. I assume it might have something to do with your work on this issue?

I'll open a new issue for this unless the changes come back or unless you tell me not to.

I'll fix this over the weekend - it requires a JIRA bounce for the Subversion indexer to be reset.

[jira] Closed: (INFRA-624) svn --revprop svn:log changes not reflected in Jira issues

Jeff Turner closed INFRA-624.
-----------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

Realistically I don't think we can justify sucking down a few hundred Mb of svn logs to do this (the recent svn changes may even prevent it from being possible).

Jeff Turner commented on INFRA-624:
-----------------------------------

Sorry, this is proving fairly painful to fix, as it requires JIRA to fetch 80+Mb of logs from SVN (~360,000 revisions) and parse the whole lot without running out of memory, which isn't easy (http://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SVN-64). So if it's not a high priority I'd like to mark 'wontfix' until the SVN plugin is improved to use constant memory.

Jeff, just an FYI in case you did bounce Jira last weekend: I still don't see the revprop change (rev 332193) reflected in STDCXX-4.

It's not a top priority for me. Thanks for giving it a shot.

As far as this issue, would it be appropriate to mark it as On Hold to help us (you :) remember to revisit it when the time comes?
