LDAP authentication single sign on

Hello,
I'm working with subversion 1.4.5 on a UNIX server.
The clients are working with windows XP.
I have managed to configure the apache2 server to work with LDAP authentication,
So the users are now login to their computers, and then work with Tortoise SVN to enter the repository.
Since I'm using this "AuthType Basic" line in the LDAP.conf the users still get to enter user name and pass.
My organization is transferring the authentication from the combination "user & pass" to a "smart card & Pin number" combination.
The combination "user & pass" will not be any more in use in my Active Directory Domain.
My questions are:
1) What is the easiest way to configure the apache server to work with the smart card?
2) Thus it mean I have to switch my authentication to Kerberos (AuthType Kerberos)? And if so - I will appreciate an elaborate link or description on how to do that.
3) Can the module "mod_auth_sspi" help me?or is it for single sign on that works with the combination "user & pass" and not "smart card & Pin number" ?
Thanks in Advanced,
Liat Katzir.
