Sorry, I seem to have messed up the line terminators here. This is probably
because I edit in both Windows and Linux.
Which should it be - LF or CRLF or CR? Or just, the same as it was before?

Sure we will! I had the exact same experience. Changing on Windows,
copying to Linux and commiting it will introduce CRLF problems in the
CVS. It happens in the C2 branch some weeks ago.

Sortof - Windows clients will convert CRLFs to new lines (assuming
a unix cvs server), but UNIX clients won't, so if robin is editing
in windows but then commiting through UNIX, he could run into
trouble...
