   Just spotted that this caused a big drop in the Wildcard benchmarks (main only, so won't affect the upcoming 10.5 release process): https://benchmarks.mikemccandless.com/Wildcard.html
   
   I guess this is expected and we should be updating the benchmark to determinize before building the query?  I worry a bit about upgrade paths though as anybody using the default `WildcardQuery(Term)` constructor could see a similar drop in performance on upgrade.
