That has always been part of {{FilterRankStrategy}}:

Also see the [JavaDoc|http://tinkerpop.apache.org/javadocs/3.1.0-incubating/full/org/apache/tinkerpop/gremlin/process/traversal/strategy/optimization/FilterRankingStrategy.html] that points out some limitations. However, the author of the slides is talking about Titan, hence his TinkerPop version is 3.0.1, but the {{FilterRankStrategy}} was introduced in 3.1.0.
