A mechanism similar to the META-INF/org.uimafit/types.txt file should be used to point to XML descriptors of components. A well-known location of such a pointer file is beneficial for the discovery of components as otherwise all XML files in a JAR would need to be scanned and tested if they are UIMA XML descriptors.
