Is the hastings npm install supposed to be global?  Not clear from the doc.

I'd prefer that we minimize the # of global npm installs required.  Currently we globally require jake, so if you could somehow wrap the hastings bit around a jake file, that used hastings installed locally in the doc directory (or wherever), the whole shebang will be easier for people to install and run.
