[jira] [Created] (HADOOP-9404) Reconcile dist-maketar.sh and
dist-tar-stitching.sh
Jason Lowe created HADOOP-9404:
----------------------------------
Summary: Reconcile dist-maketar.sh and dist-tar-stitching.sh
Key: HADOOP-9404
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-9404
Project: Hadoop Common
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: build
Affects Versions: 3.0.0
Reporter: Jason Lowe
Priority: Trivial
Per a discussion in HADOOP-9397, there are a couple of different ways compressed tarballs are generated during the build. Some projects create a {{dist-maketar.sh}} script that pipes the output of tar through gzip, while hadoop-dist creates a {{dist-tar-stitching.sh}} script which runs the commands separately. Ideally these should be made consistent.
