problems accessing webdav with windows

Hi there.

I have a WCK implementation running just fine, but when i try to set the
relative path of the webdavservlet to /files, meaning i can access it with
http://localhost:8080/webdav/ instead of http://localhost:8080/webdav/files/
i cannot connect to it with the "network places" anymore. Connecting with
DAV Explorer or browsing it with firefox still works.
It looks like windows isn't even accessing the servlet, because no
authentication is required. it just says "folder not found". however, if i
add something to the url like .../webdav/test it trys to connect.
Does anyone know what that means?
